Electric drill

Old drilling machine (drill) with transmission.
The first electric drills began to appear immediately after the invention of electric motors. Since the 1860s, these devices have been introduced into various industries (mining, medicine). With the improvement of electric motors, in the 1880s, “instrumental” versions of electric drills began to appear, which were used in factories and shipyards [2].

A drill is a tool, most often in the form of a gun, inside of which there is a traction converter, a start switch, a reverse, a rheostat or a thyristor power regulator, an electric motor (UKD), and also a mechanism for drilling with impact. A chuck is located on the shaft (spindle) of the drill, designed to install various locksmith and construction nozzles. Powerful drills in the spindle have a Morse taper for direct fixation of the drill in it.
