The angle grinder was invented in 1954 by the German company Ackermann + Schmitt (FLEX-Elektrowerkzeuge GmbH) in Steinheim an der Moor. In many countries, because of this, the tool is simply called "Flex." The Russian colloquial name for this instrument - “Bulgarian” - appeared in the USSR in the 1970s, when its first samples appeared here, produced in Bulgaria, at the Sparky Altos enterprise under the Eltos trademark in the city of Lovech. Now the word "Bulgarian" can be found even on price tags in stores. Otherwise, as in the countries of the former Soviet Union, the name of the instrument is not used anywhere else.
